Sometimes music has a way of just reaching its hand inside your chest and grabbing you by the soul.

They play a song (I think it's a traditional number) at about 37:00 that I've been listening to over and over and over.

Please listen. Once. For me.

Oh great, now I'm seriously homesick.

Jeffy, you might honestly want to check out that festival around Morehead/Olive Hill that draws Bluegrass fans from literally everywhere nationally. I've never been to it, but people loved going. And that area is a hotbed of weekend festivals. I'll have to look up what it is for you online, I've been removed from the area for 10 years now, so I don't have any idea what it is called any more.

The irony is that I'm not even a big Blugrass fan at all, perhaps I was traumatized at a young age by a father who insisted on trying to teach himself to play the Banjo. But I was driving down Madison last Sunday and I happened to have PHC on... The song just made me really, really happy.

And I have a strange relationship with the Commonwealth. I did live in Newport for a few years, just east of Pompilio's, but travelling out of the 275 loop I find vaugely unnerving.

I can't quite place the tune but it's very similar to "Old Joe Clark."

Track 155 here: http://www.folkways.si.edu/albumdetails.aspx?itemid=2382

Actually, I found it somewhere else on the page - it's 162. I knew "Fly Around My Pretty Little Miss" was an older song, but I didn't know if it was older as in 30 or 130.

But thanks for that link!
